Back in 1994 I was "courted" by WSB FM program director Phil Locasio and afternoon drive time personality and music director Kelly McCoy to do an all 70's request show.
I was really excited because at the time I was not in a radio show and working out of town. Stupid me, I didn't even ask how much it was going to pay, but I assumed it was going to be a lot of money, right?
Wrong. After two weeks of all request shows, I asked the powers to be what my pay was. Can you guess? $25.00 per hour. I freaked out, but figured if I did a good job, maybe they would put me on full time.
Two years later, I quit and never looked back. WSB is a great place to work. Cox media. But they rarely hire full time employees.
I had to move on and find full time employment. Great people, great equipment, and a great company. But impossible to live on a part time income with no benefits.
Once you're full time, you've got a job for life, but that's another story. I found an old cassette tape and converted it to an mp3 and heavily edited it down from two hours to less than 20 minutes. Hope this brings back some memories. it did for me.
